This picturesque retreat’s setting, overlooking Ayios Yiannis Beach – known as Shirley Valentine beach after the movie that was filmed there – and the sacred island of Delos, is one of the best. Attendants are on hand to cater for your every need, allowing you to laze back on comfortable loungers under shady parasols, and to keep the peace, you won’t find any motorised watersports on this part of the beach. Fans of yoga and Pilates will be inspired by the sessions held in the spectacular stone open-air amphitheatre – a great way to start the day.

Even the dining experience here is an opulent one. Dolphins of Delos has panoramic sea views in clean and crisp al fresco surroundings. All herbs are sourced from the hotel garden and produce is local. The wine list is extensive and there’s something to accompany every dish. Aqua e Sole Restaurant serves fresh, seasonal cuisine by the poolside, and the cool, minimalist White Bar has a spectacular outdoor terrace that’s the perfect spot for drinks before a night out in Mykonos Town.

Rooms are set along cobbled paths, housed in the cube-shaped white-washed buildings typical of Cycladic architecture. Recently refurbished, the Premium Gardenview Rooms have a more modern design with splashes of rich colour and are on the ground floor with a terrace. Premium Seaview Rooms have a touch of classic romance, with canopied beds and marble bathrooms. Suites have a separate living room, free-standing bath and terrace with sea views.
