Located just on the outskirts of the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, the ‘rustic chic’ Pillar and Post was a late 19th Century canning factory, and is now a beautiful retreat within easy reach of both the falls and the region’s famous wineries. The 100 Fountain Spa uses bespoke products in its extensive menu of treatments, and was voted North America’s finest of 2007-8. Cannery Restaurant, centred on a brick pizza oven that forms the space’s hearth, serves steaks, seafood and local favourites in a relaxed environment, while Vintages wine bar offers classic pub fare. Guests are welcome to dine outside on the romantic poolside patio. There’s a swimming pool and fitness centre, and the picturesque village has plenty of boutiques and an easy tempo, with wineries, hiking and rock climbing available nearby.
