Perhaps not as famous as the building it’s named for, but certainly an icon in its own right, The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower is a landmark and an architectural masterpiece. Since it first opened in 1903, it has been the hotel of choice for royalty, heads of state and celebrities. There’s both style and substance here with a blend of elegant old-world and modern style. The palace interiors are beautifully palatial with high-vaulted ceilings, grand arches, ornate décor and works of art and furnishings that wouldn’t be out of place in a museum. The Taj is the setting of a handful of the city‘s best known restaurants. There‘s also a casual all-day venue, a poolside restaurant and the city’s first licenced bar, the Sea Lounge – a Mumbai institution. Here, with a back drop of the Arabian Sea, you can enjoy an afternoon of British favourites and local delicacies alongside a cup of one of the world’s finest tea or coffee varieties. Shamiana is open around the clock with both buffet and à la carte dishes available, while Masala Kraft is the place to sample local specialities at lunch and dinner. Further dining options include the award-winning Wasabi by Morimoto and the Sichuan and Cantonese restaurant Golden Dragon.

Rooms and suites are located in either the historic Palace or the modern Tower wing. Accommodation in the Palace Wing is traditional in style with Italian marble bathrooms, and guests in these rooms and suites can enjoy 24-hour butler service. Rooms in the Tower Wing are more contemporary.
