Guide to Luxury Holidays in Czech Republic

Just over 30,000 square miles in area, the Czech Republic is one of Europe's smaller countries but it's a place where you'll never run short of things to see and do. Its multiple mountain ranges give it a rugged landscape where new wonders emerge at every turn. You'll find perfectly preserved medieval towns and cities with festival traditions that go back for centuries, rolling vineyards where visitors can tour and taste the wine, and historic music venues that inspired Gustav Mahler and Antonin Dvorak. Take a riverboat cruise along the Elbe or ride through Prague in a horse-drawn carriage. The people of this friendly country will always make you feel welcome. Although one of the mainland's smaller countries, the Czech Republic won't disillusion voyagers searching for an essence of focal Europe. Given its size - and on account of a top-notch open travel framework - it's a simple nation to get around, especially for those anticipating investing, the greater part of their energy investigating the country's lovely capital, Prague, which has about perpetual touring openings and activities. However, while Prague flaunts an extreme number of fantastic attractions, there are sufficiently off the beaten path attractions to warrant investigating via auto. Features of an outing to the Czech wide open incorporate numerous great national parks and protected regions. A standout amongst the most prominent is appropriately named Bohemian Paradise, a region of exceptional regular excellence described by various awesome shake arrangements and many fine old palaces, and another zone worth visiting is a Podyjí National Park in Moravia, with its huge pristine timberlands. En route, you'll unearth various old towns and towns, numerously unaltered since medieval occasions and home to fine old houses of worship, castles, and open squares, every one of them worth a visit.

Walking and cycling tours are a popular way to explore the Czech Republic, from the wild regions of Bohemia with their stunning rock formations to the bustling streets of Prague. Some areas also offer hot air balloon tours, and if you're feeling musically inclined, you can take the jazz boat through Prague.

No trip to the Czech Republic should fail to take in the beautiful capital of Prague, whose old, twisting streets are so full of churches that it's known as the city of a thousand spires. There you'll find magnificent restaurants, busy street markets and live music playing in every other bar. Not far away is the spectacular gothic Castle Karlstejn, which visitors can tour, and in nearby Kutna Hora you'll find a church made from human bones. Travel to Karlovy Vary to indulge yourself in natural hot spas or to Cesky Krumlov to see its exquisitely preserved 13th Century castle and 17th Century baroque theatre. In this country full of surprises, you'll never be disappointed.

In the Czech Republic the biggest meal of the day is usually lunch, and restaurants often fill up with local people at lunchtime. Dishes of beef, pork, wild carp or game are served with cabbage, potatoes, dumplings and large helpings of sauces. Goulash and schnitzel, dishes borrowed from neighbouring countries, can be found in most areas. Regionally, Chodsko is famous for its cakes and Pardubice for its gingerbread. The whole country is famous for its beer and brewery tours are popular with visitors. You'll also find burgundy wines from Moravia and herb-infused spirits in the bars.

Insider Review
One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin. He lay on his armour-like back, and if he lifted his head a little he could see his brown belly, slightly domed and divided by arches into stiff sections. The bedding was hardly able to cover it and seemed ready to slide off any moment. His many legs, pitifully thin compared with the size of the rest of him, waved about helplessly as he looked. “What’s happened to me? ” he thought. It wasn’t a dream. His room, a proper human room although a little too small, lay peacefully between its four familiar walls. A collection of textile samples lay spread out on the table – Samsa was a travelling salesman – and above it there hung a picture that he had recently cut out of an illustrated magazine and housed in a nice, gilded frame. It showed a lady fitted out with a fur hat and fur boa who sat upright, raising a heavy fur muff that covered the whole of her lower arm towards the viewer. Gregor then turned to look out the window at the dull weather. Drops of rain could be heard hitting the pane, which made him feel quite sad. “How about if I sleep a little bit longer and forget all this nonsense”, he thought, but that was something he was unable to do because he was used to sleeping on his right, and in his present state couldn’t get into that position. However hard he threw himself onto his right, he always rolled back to where he was. He must have tried it a hundred times, shut his eyes so that he wouldn’t have to look at the floundering legs, and only stopped when he began to feel a mild, dull pain there that he had never felt before. “Oh, God”, he thought, “what a strenuous career it is that I’ve chosen!
