Description
Iconic and historic plantation
Oak Alley Plantation on the west bank of the Mississippi River is cloaked in history dating back to 1839. Once home to over one hundred house and field slaves, this Greek Revival mansion with rooms and cottages is shadowed by 28 giant oaks and stately grounds. History and ghostly sightings abound and scenes from the film Interview with the Vampire were shot here. There is plenty to explore, including the interactive Civil War exhibit, reconstructed slavery quarters, a blacksmith shop and spectacular gardens
