You know you’re in for a treat when the name of your hotel translates to ‘eternal bliss’. And thanks to the charming Byzantine-inspired architecture, beautifully-tendered gardens and oceanfront setting, the Elysium Hotel is appropriately named. Local materials have been sourced to provide a real sense of place and there’s a focus on the style and traditions of the region with design features such as mosaics, archways and columns throughout. There’s a huge split-level pool at the heart of the property as well as an adults-only sunken pool for the exclusive use of Royal Studio guests. The resort’s Opium Spa is one of the finest in Paphos, if not the whole of Cyprus. The Elysium Hotel is also the perfect destination for a luxury family holiday as there’s a complimentary kids’ club and family-friendly accommodation options.

There’s an excellent choice of dining here. The main restaurant, Lemonia Piazza, is styled on a village square and each day provides a buffet service at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each evening there’s a themed buffet so you’ll never grow tired of the same food. There are also dishes for the younger, and often fussier, guests. Four further venues include Mediterranean, Italian and Asian restaurants.

The rooms and studios here have the same Mediterranean style as the rest of the resort; they are light, airy and spacious. The recently renovated Deluxe Bedrooms have inland views or, for a supplement, a side sea view or full sea view. A particular favourite with those travelling with younger guests are the Family Cyprian Maisonettes. These suites have a living room on the lower floor and master bedroom on the mezzanine. For a more romantic atmosphere we recommend the Royal Studio Garden View with Plunge Pool.
