Description

Less is more on this small coral island, which combines a chic design with an unspoilt setting.
One of the newest additions to the Maldives’s five-star resort portfolio, Faarufushi brings barefoot luxury to the remote northern Raa Atoll. There’s a real focus on simple indulgences here; the minimalist design is a delicate addition to the island’s natural beauty and there’s a fantastic house reef which is perfect for snorkelling. If all you want to do is as little as possible, head to the Nika Spa’s treehouse-style couple’s treatment rooms for an afternoon of indulgence and undisturbed relaxation.

Whether it’s a beachside retreat offering total escapism or a sleek overwater villa that enjoys front-row access to the dazzling lagoon, all of the rooms here combine understated luxury with a chic design. Beach Bungalows have stylish open-air bathrooms, while the Beach Retreats have a private plunge pool. Ocean Retreats with Pool are all about the view, with floor-to-ceiling windows and an overwater deck. At the jetty’s end, the Ocean Suites with Pool are more spacious and include a larger living area and overwater infinity pool.

There are three restaurants on the island, and all overlook superb views of the ocean. Iru is the main all-day dining restaurant, while Athiri is the casual beachside eatery which offers robatayaki, tapas and even wood-fired pizza. Eclipse is the island’s signature restaurant; a crescent-shaped overwater setting which basks in uninterrupted lagoon views. Follow this with a post-dinner drink at the stylish Boli bar, an overwater lounge that offers you sunset views the whole year round.
